DC Private Security Camera Incentive Program

Neighbors,

Have you had a package, shovel or other item stolen from your porch?

If so, join your neighbors and install a doorbell security camera or exterior camera around your house to prevent and/or deter would be thieves from stealing your items.

Help the police identify crime suspects who attack our neighborhood! Invest in a security camera!

Install security cameras, activate monitoring, and provide the police department with access to camera footage after an incident occurs near your residence.

Purchase an external camera(s) for your property and get a rebate from the DC Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants. Funding is still available for rebates! Ward 7 lags behind the rest of the city in taking advantage of the Private Security Camera Incentive Program.

The Program offers a rebate to residents, businesses, nonprofits, and religious institutions who purchase and install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The program provides a rebate of up to $200 per camera, with a maximum rebate of up to $500 per residential address (e.g., home offices, condo buildings, and apartments) and $750 for all other eligible addresses. The rebate is exclusively for the cost of the camera(s) including any applicable tax.

You can purchase a very good security camera system or video doorbell camera from Costco, Best Buy or on-line retailer. Click here for more information on the Program.

If you have questions about the rebate or voucher program, please contact the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants at [email protected] or 202-727-5124.
