Global Scholars Foundation
Your child can travel overseas, and participate in the District’s Global Scholarship Foundation program. GSF concentrates on finding a diverse group of District teenagers who express interest in foreign language skills development, are curious about other cultures, and who are enthusiastic about our high commitment learning process.
Students can complete the application online at www.globalscholarsfoundation.org. The program is SYEP host site, which means students can get paid to work with us for the summer.
Executive Director, Marcia K. Brown, Ph.D. addressed Penn Branch residents last year, and encourages Ward 7 youth to apply.
Penn Branch neighbors are taking to the street to dig themselves out and help their neighbors dig out from this weeks historic snowfall. We are asking neighbors to help clear the streets and to pay special attention to our seniors citizens, ill, and those without the resources to shovel in their driveways and sidewalks.

DDOT and the mayors office are working hard to clear streets and address issues from the snowstorm.

We need your help! We are coordinating to help residents in Penn Brach and Ward 7 dig out and address urgent issues as the result of the snow storm. Our efforts are in addition major efforts by city agencies that have been working around the clock to assist residents and provide services.
We NEED as soon as possible
- Volunteers to help dig out residents with critical needs and those who are unable.
- Anyone who is able to travel to the Reeves Center to work as part of a Ward 7 efforts
- Help identifying Penn Branch and Ward 7 residents who need to be a priority (ill , without electric or heat or without adequate resources)
- Help identifying streets that are unplowed (understand that major streets are a priority)
- If you have electric/gas snow blowers and tools to assist neighbors with urgent needs
- Shoveling out are fire hydrants
- Identify any other major issues
