We need your help!  We are coordinating to help residents in Penn Brach and Ward 7 dig out and address urgent issues as the result of the snow storm.  Our efforts are in addition major efforts by city agencies that have been working around the clock to assist residents and provide services.

We NEED as soon as possible

  1. Volunteers to help dig out residents with critical needs and those who are unable.
  2. Anyone who is able to travel to the Reeves Center to work as part of a Ward 7 efforts
  3. Help identifying Penn Branch and Ward 7 residents who need to be a priority (ill , without electric or heat or without adequate resources)
  4. Help identifying streets that are unplowed (understand that major streets are a priority)
  5. If you have electric/gas snow blowers and tools to assist neighbors with urgent needs
  6. Shoveling out are fire hydrants
  7. Identify any other major issues

Deaths – We regret announcing the passing of long-time Penn Branch resident, Mrs. Carrie Bell Freeman. Mrs. Freeman was the wife of Bishop Robert O. Freeman and lived on Nash Street. The wake will be held Sunday, January 17 from 6-9 pm at the Spirit of Faith Christian Center, 2261 Oxon Run Drive, Temple Hills, MD. The funeral service will be Monday, January 18 at 11:00 am; viewing begins at 10:00 am.

The Freeman’s are long-time residents of Penn Branch and owners of Freeman’s Funeral Services.

DC Fire and EMS Chief Gregory Dean – Dec. 8 Holiday Meeting and Dinner

Gregory DeanThe distinguished Gregory Dean, D.C. Fire and EMS Chief, will join us at our Holiday Meeting and Dinner on December 8. The Chief will discuss DC Fire and EMS upgrades and what the future holds to keep the city’s neighborhoods safe; assessing our needs and assisting DC citizens requiring immediate medical attention and transport.

So please join us for our annual holiday dinner and give cheer for a prosperous 2015 with your neighbors, friends and our honored guests. We will also be recognizing individuals who have contributed to Penn Branch. Along with those new neighbors born into this great life this past year, we also remember those who’ve moved away, who have passed on, who are shut-in and who are afflicted with ailment.
